At The Cornish Oven, community has always been at the heart of what we do. Whether it’s through a conversation across the counter, supporting local charities, or working alongside organisations making a real difference, we believe that small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.
Recently, we were delighted to support YMCA Cornwall as they continue to develop their facilities for young people. As part of this support, we donated a freezer to help with food storage while plans progress for the fit-out of their new kitchen. To help get things started, we also filled it with 60 Cornish Oven pasties.
While the freezer itself is a practical piece of equipment, we hope it represents something much bigger: a commitment to helping ensure young people have access to warm food, support and a safe place when they need it most.
YMCA Cornwall provides invaluable support for young people across the county, working with those who may be facing homelessness, difficult life circumstances, or simply need guidance and encouragement as they navigate their next steps. Through accommodation, wellbeing support, life skills programmes and opportunities for personal development, the charity helps young people build confidence, independence and brighter futures.
We’re also pleased to share that the support doesn’t stop there. Our Penzance shop has established an ongoing link with YMCA Cornwall and will be helping to maintain the freezer’s stock levels, ensuring there are always pasties available when needed.
The work carried out by YMCA Cornwall changes lives every day, often in ways that aren’t immediately visible. Behind every young person is a story, and having access to consistent support, a sense of belonging and even something as simple as a hot meal can make a meaningful difference.
We’re proud to play a small part in supporting such an important cause and are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside a charity that does so much for young people throughout Cornwall.
